Celebrating Innovation Since 1836
Palmer Instruments and Wahl Instruments, with more than a century of Firsts in temperature technology, have come together to offer a complete line of temperature, pressure, test and calibration instruments from our manufacturing facility in Asheville, North Carolina. Family owned and operated, our history is built on our reputation of outstanding product development, quality, and customer service. Our future is dedicated to innovating more industry Firsts in instrumentation. With the recent affiliation between Palmer Instruments and Wahl Instruments, resulting in the consolidation of all sales, service, and manufacturing in the newly renovated in Asheville, NC facility, Palmer Wahl looks to continue their innovative tradition into the future.
America's First Manufacturer of Precision Industrial Temperature and Pressure Instrumentation
Palmer Instruments, Inc.
America's first thermometer company originated in Cincinnati, OH in 1836. Since that time, Palmer Instruments has steadily evolved through product development geared exclusively towards industrial supply and process measurement.
From development of the "Foster Cup" thermometer in 1880, through the radical improvement of thermometer legibility by the patented "Red Reading Mercury" tube in 1929, to today's temperature and pressure measurement innovations, Palmer has always maintained the "first" tradition by bringing instrument value, service and quality to a broad range of industries.
Operating from the facility in Asheville, NC since 1987, Palmer has developed special-application products such as Dual-Sensing and "Slip-fit" thermometers and pioneered new industry services.
Wahl Instruments, Inc.
America's most innovative thermometer company was founded in 1953. Wahl Instruments, originally based in Culver City, CA, was formed to manufacture precision temperature instruments for industry.
Since then, Wahl Company Photo developed the first portable digital platinum-RTD thermometer system and the first digital universal soldering iron tester to prove government compliance standards. Wahl was also the first to bring the industry a portable, non-contact, handheld infrared thermometer at an affordable price point, without sacrifice in accuracy and reliability.
Wahl is also recognized for developing and patenting the first miniature temperature recording label. This useful, inexpensive and accurate product is found in thousands of maintenance applications throughout the world today and is credited with the creation of an entire industry grown in its path. Not content to be solely a pioneer, Wahl remains a leading manufacturer of all these products.
Over the last 10 years thermal imaging technology has changed tremendously, but one thing is which is always lacking is training to properly interpret thermographic data. Regardless of the evolution of the technology, fortunately Palmer Wahl has always been and always will be at the forefront of the industry... Whether you are a company like Mold Busters or average DIY person, you need proper training to interpret the data and Palmer Wahl is nothing but the best.

“I am very happy for Wahl’s quality and big digital numbers, we can see temperature from distance. Thank you for your quick quote response. I am sure happy the existing Wahl thermometer has lasted for more than 6 years and is still working very well."

We are very pleased with the performance of the new transmitters. They have smoothed out our chart recorder trace lines which makes looking for deviations in cook temperatures much easier and more accu- rate. They are an improvement over what we had in that regard and have become the Certified Standard for our old plant.
